Prabowo Establishes Financial Intelligence Agency

By srirahayu@insightinnews.com President Prabowo Subianto has restructured the organizational framework of the Ministry of Finance. One significant change is the establishment of the Financial Technology, Information, and Intelligence Agency. This new agency is outlined in Article 7 of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 158 of 2024 concerning the Ministry of Finance, which was signed by Prabowo on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. According to Article 52 of Perpres 158 of 2024, the Financial Technology, Information, and Intelligence Agency will report directly to the Minister of Finance and will be led by a head. Furthermore, Article 53 details the agency's responsibilities, which include the development and management of information and communication technology, as well as the management of financial data, information, and intelligence. In fulfilling its duties as specified in Article 53, the Financial Technology, Information, and Intelligence Agency will perform several functions. These include the formulation of technical policies, planning and programs for the development and management of information and communication technology, as well as the management of financial data, information, and intelligence, along with digital transformation and change management, as stated in Article 54, point a of Perpres 158 of 2024. Additionally, this new agency will have a secretariat composed of functional positions and operational roles, with a maximum of six centers. Moreover, Prabowo has also established the Directorate General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy, along with the Directorate General of Financial Sector Stability and Development.
