Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka were inaugurated on Sunday, October 20, as Indonesia's eighth president and fourteenth vice president, respectively, for the 2024-2029 term at the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and House of Representatives (DPR) building in Jakarta.

The Newly sworn-in President Prabowo Subianto delivered his first speech to the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of Indonesia at the Nusantara Building in Jakarta. In his address, President Prabowo pledged to lead Indonesia with full accountability, focusing on serving the nation and prioritizing the needs of all Indonesians.

“We will govern the Republic of Indonesia sincerely, putting the interests of all citizens first, including those who did not support us,” he stated. The President discussed both internal and external challenges facing the Indonesian people. Despite having rich natural resources, Indonesia still encounters various difficulties and threats. He stressed the need for courage in tackling these issues.

“I call on everyone, especially leaders among scholars, clerics, businesspeople, political figures, youth, and students, to confront these challenges together,” he urged. President Prabowo also mentioned ongoing internal issues, such as corruption, budget mismanagement, and collusion between officials and dishonest businesspeople.

“We must acknowledge that there are significant budget leaks, irregularities, and collusion between political and government officials at all levels with unpatriotic businesspeople. We should not shy away from this reality,” he remarked. During his speech, the President noted that many Indonesians still live in poverty, including children who attend school without breakfast and schools that are in poor condition.

“Let us not be too quick to celebrate statistical improvements without understanding the broader situation,” he cautioned. The President called on everyone to come together to solve these problems. "Let us confront threats and challenges with courage, and tackle difficulties with strength. Let us collaborate and unite to discover solutions and overcome these threats," he stated.
