Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono welcomed a courtesy visit from Malaysia's Ambassador to Indonesia, Dato’ Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin. During their meeting, they discussed various collaborations, including Malaysian investment projects in Indonesia. "This includes partnerships like Pertamina and Petronas, as well as cooperation on palm oil issues," stated the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (March 13, 2025). The ministry also noted that Malaysia is Indonesia's fourth-largest investor in Southeast Asia, with an investment of 4.1 billion US dollars in 2024.
In the meeting, Minister Sugiono praised the progress in negotiations regarding maritime and land boundaries between Indonesia and Malaysia. He reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to continue the unresolved negotiation processes. "In addition to bilateral issues, they also discussed ASEAN matters. In this regard, Minister Sugiono expressed Indonesia's support for Malaysia's chairmanship in ASEAN throughout 2025," the ministry reported.
Furthermore, Minister Sugiono and Ambassador Dato’ Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin addressed the issue of Palestine. Both parties reaffirmed their strong commitment to resolving the Palestinian issue, including through a permanent ceasefire and the Two-State Solution.
