The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the average spending of foreign tourists in Indonesia reached $1,391 or IDR 22.86 million (based on an exchange rate of IDR 16,440 per dollar) throughout 2024. Acting Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, stated that most of this expenditure was on accommodation and food and beverages. "On average, foreign tourists spent about $1,391.85 during their stay in Indonesia in 2024," Amalia said at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, February 3, 2025.
Additionally, Amalia noted that in the fourth quarter of 2024, the average spending of foreign tourists was $1,287 or IDR 21.16 million during their visits to Indonesia. During this period, tourists also stayed an average of 10.39 nights in the country.
The total number of foreign tourist visits in 2024 reached 13,902,420, marking a 19.05 percent increase compared to 11,677,825 visits in 2023. Amalia highlighted that the largest number of tourists came from Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia. "Monthly, the percentage of tourists from Malaysia was 26.84 percent, from Singapore 45.74 percent, and from Australia 14.51 percent," she explained.
