Prabowo: By The End Of 2025, All Indonesian Children Will Have Access To Free Nutritious Food

Monday, 27 Jan 2025

President Prabowo Subianto has promised that all children will receive free nutritious meals (MBG) by the end of 2025. The number of recipients will gradually increase as the budget for MBG expands. "I believe that by the end of 2025, all Indonesian children will have access to nutritious meals. However, this cannot happen immediately; it is physically impossible," Prabowo stated after launching a strategic electricity project in 18 provinces at the Jatigede Hydroelectric Power Plant in Sumedang, West Java, on January 20, 2025.

Prabowo explained that providing meals for all children is not feasible from an administrative standpoint. There are several processes the government must follow to speed up the addition of beneficiaries. These processes often take time, especially since the nutritious meal project is quite large. "From an administrative perspective, it is not possible. We need to ensure that the funds sent do not get lost, and that requires a process that takes time," he said.

However, he emphasized that the government is continuously working to find the fastest and best solutions. "But I stress that we are trying to find the best and quickest ways so that all our children can benefit. If they haven't received it yet, I apologize. But God willing, we will succeed by the end of 2025," he promised. Additionally, the former Minister of Defense confirmed that the budget for the free nutritious meal program has been allocated and is sufficient to reach the recipients. "I assure you that the funds are available. I guarantee that there is enough money for all Indonesian children to eat. And those who do not need it can forgo their share," Prabowo concluded.

Previously, it was reported that the free nutritious meal program started on January 6, 2025. Last weekend, Prabowo expressed concern that many children had not yet experienced this flagship program.
