The Minister of Housing and Settlements, Maruarar Sirait, announced that President Prabowo Subianto has approved a national strategic program in housing for low-income communities. He shared this information after a limited meeting with Prabowo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. "I presented the report, and he agreed. We will create a national strategic program, not just a project, specifically for low-income communities," Maruarar stated.
He mentioned that this program will collaborate under the coordination of the Minister of Coordinating for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY). They will also work with the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning, Nusron Wahid.
"This national strategic program will be implemented in several locations across Indonesia. The goal is to speed up permits and ensure equitable development, utilizing state-owned lands," he explained. Maruarar, often called Ara, emphasized that Prabowo's policy is pro-people. This is evident from the allocation of 3 million ready-to-occupy apartments. Following the President's direction, these apartments will prioritize low-income communities with the lowest rental prices. Next in line are civil servants, and the highest rates will be for commercial use. "The policy is clear: it aims to support the people, with the lowest rates for low-income communities, followed by civil servants, and the highest for commercial purposes," Maruarar clarified.
