President Prabowo Subianto has approved a budget of Rp 48.8 trillion for the development of the new capital, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan over the next five years. This decision was made during a meeting attended by Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Head of the IKN Authority Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Housing and Settlements Maruarar Sirait, and Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo. "President Prabowo Subianto has confirmed that the budget of Rp 48.8 trillion for the continuation of IKN development has been approved," said AHY after the meeting at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday (January 21, 2025). AHY noted that the budget allocation shows Prabowo's commitment to continue the IKN project.
As of now, the first phase of IKN development from 2022 to 2024, focusing on the central government area, is complete. Some infrastructure projects are fully finished, while others are still ongoing. "It is important to note that following President Prabowo Subianto's direction, we will continue the IKN development according to the established timeline and phases," said AHY. After allocating the funds, the government will closely monitor the construction to ensure it is completed on time.
Additionally, AHY will review the IKN development again, as President Prabowo has requested that IKN be ready to serve as the political capital by 2028. This political capital will include facilities for legislative and judicial institutions. "We will conduct another review and make necessary technical adjustments, and when the time comes, we will continue the development, aiming to meet the set goals and targets," said AHY.
