WhatsApp has launched new filters and sticker packs to celebrate the New Year 2025. These features were announced in an official statement received by KompasTekno on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. WhatsApp expressed excitement about offering users fun and engaging features for chatting or calling friends and family during the New Year celebrations.
There are three main features introduced for this occasion: effects, interactive emoji reactions, and new stickers. The first feature includes a festive filter, background, and effect themed for the New Year. The filter looks like a photo frame shaped like a window with "2025" on top, decorated in bright colors that rotate when used. Users can find this filter through the magic wand icon during video calls.
The New Year background is also colorful but is static, without any movement. Users can combine both the filter and background for a more festive look. Another option for celebrating during video calls is the confetti effect, which displays animated confetti on the screen. However, this effect cannot be used together with the filter or background. According to KompasTekno, these New Year features are now available in Indonesia, specifically for WhatsApp Android version 2.24.25.77.
WhatsApp is making emoji reactions more interactive as we approach the new year 2025. Emoji reactions allow users to give simple responses in both personal and group chats. When a user reacts with an emoji, it appears right below the message. Now, if someone uses a confetti emoji, colorful confetti animation will surround the chat bubble. This makes the animation effect much more engaging than before, which had no effects at all.
