Instagram is launching new features for the end of 2024. The photo and video sharing platform has announced several updates to celebrate the end of the year and welcome New Year 2025 online. These features include Collage, a New Year-themed "Add yours" sticker template, New Year fonts, a Countdown effect, and new effects and animations in direct messages (DM) and Notes.
The first special feature is Collage, which is now available in Stories. This feature was tested with some users before its official release, coinciding with the year-end celebrations, as reported by Social Media Today. Collage allows users to combine their favorite photos into one frame in an Instagram Story. To access it, swipe right on the screen or tap the Instagram Story icon in the top left corner. A "Collage" menu will appear in the top left; click it and select several photos to upload.
However, according to KompasTekno, this feature may not be available to all users yet. The next feature is the year-end "Add Yours" sticker template. Users can find this by clicking the Instagram Story menu, selecting "Template" at the top, and scrolling down to find the "Goodbye 2024" theme. There will be several year-end themed templates to choose from.
Instagram is also offering special fonts for "New Year" and "Countdown" that can be used in Instagram Stories, Reels, and Feed. Additionally, Instagram has released effects in DM themed around "Mariah Carey," "New Years," and "Chill." Not only in DM, but Instagram has also added New Year 2025 animations in Notes. This "hidden gem" animation will appear when users open DM/Notes and type in New Year-related phrases like "Happy new year" or "Hello 2025," as summarized by KompasTekno from Phone Arena.
However, like Collage, the font effects, Notes, and DM features are not yet available to all users. It seems that some features are being released gradually. It's a good idea to update the app regularly to access new features. However, if you have the latest version and the features still don't appear, users may need to be patient.
