A South Korean technology company, LG, has launched a new television called the Signature OLED T. This is not just an ordinary TV; it stands out with its unique design featuring a 77-inch transparent screen. The transparent TV is also wireless, making LG claim that the Signature OLED T is the world's first transparent and wireless television. The screen has a self-lit feature that allows it to switch from a blurred mode to a transparent mode. The blurred mode activates when the TV is on, displaying various content, while the transparent mode is used when the TV is off, allowing users to see through it, revealing wall patterns, home decor, or views behind the TV.
However, not all parts of the LG Signature OLED T become transparent, as the bezel and frame are still visible. The TV also includes a special mode that transforms it into an aquarium, complete with fish. On the back, there are LED lights that enhance the aesthetic with lighting effects on the wall.
Specifications of the LG Signature OLED T include a 77-inch screen, 4K resolution, and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. As the name suggests, it features an OLED panel and is powered by the Alpha 11 AI processor, which is said to perform four times better than previous TV chips. The interface, called T-Home, allows access to apps, services, settings, and other features.
As mentioned earlier, this TV receives content wirelessly through a separate device called the Zero Connect Box. This box functions like a streaming device or gaming console and can be placed up to 30 feet (about 9 meters) away from the TV, as long as there is a clear line of sight.
LG has added a feature called T-Objet to its transparent TV. This feature acts like an Always-on-Display mode, allowing the screen to show specific content like videos or images even when the device is not in use. There is also a T-Bar feature, a small banner at the bottom of the TV that displays information such as the time, weather, and outdoor temperature. The Signature OLED T was previously showcased by LG at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in January in Las Vegas, USA. Now, this advanced smart TV is being launched globally, with the United States being the first market to receive it. In the US, the TV is priced at $59,999 (around IDR 974 million) and will be available starting January 16, 2025, according to KompasTekno from Gizmochina on Monday, December 23, 2024.
