Ministry Of Finance Receives IDR 31.05 Trillion From Digital Business Tax Until November 2024

The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance has reported that tax revenues from the digital economy sector have reached IDR 31.05 trillion by the end of November 2024.


Dwi Astuti, the Director of Counseling, Services, and Public Relations at DJP, detailed that this total revenue comprises IDR 24.49 trillion from the Value Added Tax (VAT) on Electronic Commerce (PMSE) and IDR 979.08 billion from cryptocurrency taxes.


Additionally, tax collections from peer-to-peer lending fintech amounted to IDR 2.86 trillion, while taxes collected by other parties on procurement transactions through the Government Procurement Information System (SIPP tax) totaled IDR 2.71 trillion.


"As of November 30, 2024, the government has recorded revenue from the digital economy sector amounting to IDR 31.05 trillion," she stated in a written statement, as cited on Friday, December 13, 2024.


During the same period, the government appointed 199 PMSE operators as VAT collectors. This includes seven new appointments, one correction or change of data for a VAT collector, and one revocation of a VAT collector in November 2024.


The VAT collectors appointed last month include Amazon Japan G.K., Vorwerk International and Co. KmG, Huawei Service (Hong Kong) Co., Limited, Sounds True Inc., Siteground Hosting Ltd., Browserstack Inc., and Total Security Limited.


The correction made in November 2024 involved Posit Software, PBC, while the revocation in November 2024 pertained to Global Cloud Infrastructure Limited. Furthermore, Dwi explained that out of all appointed collectors, 171 PMSE have conducted VAT collection and remittance amounting to IDR 24.5 trillion.


This figure includes collections from 2020 totaling IDR 731.4 billion, collections from 2021 amounting to IDR 3.90 trillion, collections from 2022 of IDR 5.51 trillion, collections from 2023 reaching IDR 6.76 trillion, and collections from 2024 totaling IDR 7.58 trillion.
