The Chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir, has announced the total funding allocated for PSSI in 2025, which amounts to approximately Rp 665 billion. This funding aims to support the development of various PSSI programs and the Indonesian National Team in a bid to enhance football achievements in the country. Out of the total budget, about Rp 438 billion will be sourced through partnerships with sponsors, media rights, ticket sales, merchandise, and other funding avenues.
Additionally, the PSSI has received a commitment from the government, expressed directly by President Prabowo Subianto, totaling Rp 227 billion. PSSI has expressed gratitude for the support received from various parties that have contributed to the funding of national football. "We extend our heartfelt thanks to the government, especially President Prabowo, for his significant attention towards Indonesian football to ensure its continued success, as well as to the sponsors, media, and all those who have offered support and assistance in our efforts to transform football in Indonesia," Erick Thohir stated in his announcement.
Erick further clarified that the allocated budget will be utilized for the National Team’s programs in 2025, estimated to be around Rp 350 billion, with the remainder supporting other PSSI initiatives. The National Team budget will go towards preparations for several teams, such as the Senior Team, U-23, U-20, and U-17, that will compete in the 2025 Asian Cup, particularly the Senior Team for the World Cup Qualifiers, along with long-term training camp programs for both the senior and junior women's teams. However, this budget does not cover the futsal and beach soccer national teams.
"We acknowledge that this budget may not compare to those of countries like Japan or Saudi Arabia. Nonetheless, we are committed to making the best use of these funds. We have witnessed tangible results, as nearly all age-group national teams have successfully qualified for the Asian Cup," Erick Thohir remarked.
Meanwhile, the total budget requirement for the National Team programs in 2025 is anticipated to reach Rp 350 billion, which will be allocated for the development of several age-group teams, including the Senior Team, U-23, U-20, U-17, and the Women’s Teams (Senior and Junior). It remains important to note that this budget is not inclusive of the futsal and beach soccer national teams. Erick Thohir reiterated his deep appreciation to the government, media, and all stakeholders who have supported and assisted in the transformation of football in Indonesia.
"We are aware that this budget may not be on par with those of countries such as Japan or Saudi Arabia. However, we are determined to utilize these funds effectively," said Erick Thohir. "We have seen real outcomes where nearly all age groups of the National Team have qualified for the Asian Cup. We hope to achieve our goals of raising the FIFA ranking for the men’s team to 100 and for the women’s team to 50." (deriz@insightinnews.com)
