Minister Of Health Ensures No Increase In 2025 BPJS Health Tariff

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has affirmed that the contributions for the Social Security Agency for Health (BPJS Kesehatan) will not increase in 2025. This statement was made to alleviate public concerns regarding the potential rise in BPJS Kesehatan contributions in the upcoming year.

"According to my calculations, the BPJS funding for 2025 is sufficient, so there is no need for worry. What we need to consider is what happens after 2025," Budi Gunadi stated during an event at the Alila Hotel in Solo, Central Java, on Sunday, December 8, 2024. He mentioned that he is currently collaborating with Finance Minister Sri Mulyani to assess the financial requirements of BPJS in the event of any necessary tariff adjustments.

"We are precisely calculating the needs of BPJS, and if there are any tariff adjustments, we will address that as well," he explained. Previously, there were rumors about an increase in BPJS Kesehatan contributions due to the implementation of the Standard Inpatient Class (KRIS). These speculations were further fueled by reports of budget deficits and payment failures within BPJS Kesehatan.

Regarding the potential increase in contributions, Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 59 of 2024 concerning the Third Amendment to Presidential Regulation No. 82 of 2018 on Health Insurance states that increases in contributions are permitted every two years. However, such increases must undergo prior evaluation. The contributions or tariffs are expected to be determined by June 30 or July 1, 2025. (ridwan@insightinnews.com)
