The People's Consultative Assembly (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat, DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia has officially ratified the five elected leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission (Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi, KPK) during a plenary session chaired by DPR Chairperson Puan Maharani at the Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
Prior to the ratification, the Chair of Commission III of the DPR, Habiburokhman, presented the decisions made by Commission III. In attendance were four of the elected KPK leaders: Setyo Budiyanto, Fitroh Rohcahyanto, Ibnu Basuki Widodo, and Agus Joko Pramono.
However, one elected leader, Johanis Tanak, was unable to attend due to his ongoing duties as an incumbent. "We would like to inform you that Mr. Johanis Tanak, currently serving as the KPK leader, is fulfilling his responsibilities. According to the law, he is permitted to be absent and remains duly elected as a deputy chair," Habiburokhman stated in his report.
Previously, Commission III of the DPR selected five KPK leaders for the 2024-2029 term after ten candidates underwent a fit and proper test on November 18-19, 2024. Following this process, a vote was conducted to choose five from the ten candidates. The voting results appointed Commissioner Setyo Budiyanto as the Chair of the KPK, while the four elected deputy chairs are Fitroh Rohcahyanto, Johanis Tanak, Ibnu Basuki Widodo, and Agus Joko Pramono.
The five KPK leaders ratified by the DPR are as follows:
1. Setyo Budiyanto as Chair of the KPK (Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture)
2. Fitroh Rohcahyanto (former Director of Prosecution at the KPK)
3. Ibnu Basuki Widodo (Judge at the Manado High Court)
4. Johanis Tanak (Deputy Chair of the KPK for the 2019-2024 term)
