Investment Minister and Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani has expressed that companies affiliated with the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) are optimistic about the investment climate in Indonesia. In a press statement to the media, Minister Rosan conveyed the investors' confidence in Indonesia's commitment under President Prabowo Subianto's leadership to foster a conducive business environment.
"They are very excited because most of them have already invested in Indonesia, and there are others who are planning to invest in sectors such as minerals, oil, and gas," he stated at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
He noted that investors have positively received the government's commitment to uphold the law, combat corruption, and enhance the ease of doing business in Indonesia. Minister Rosan believes these measures provide a sense of security and comfort for business operators.
"The President has stated that there is no tolerance for corruption or any negative factors that could hinder investment. The rule of law will be strictly enforced, which also offers reassurance and comfort to investors who have already committed to Indonesia," he added.
In addition to regulatory aspects, Minister Rosan emphasized the importance of developing local human resources. He hopes that the investments made will not only support economic growth but also facilitate technology transfer and enhance the skills of the Indonesian workforce.
Rosan articulated the expectation that as investments are made, there should also be a concurrent effort to develop and enhance the capacity of our human resources and workforce, with an anticipated transfer of technology.
During the US-ABC meeting, Rosan further revealed that President Prabowo provided a clear response regarding the government's commitment to fostering collaboration between foreign and domestic investors to promote sustainable economic growth.
“The President explicitly conveyed the Indonesian government's dedication to continuously improving the economic curve by safeguarding investments, both those already in Indonesia and those that are forthcoming, while also collaborating with domestic investors,” he stated. (ridwan@insightinnews.com)
