BUMN Minister: BUMN Tender Under IDR15 Billion Only For MSME

Friday, 29 Nov 2024

The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir, has emphasized that all project tenders within state-owned enterprises valued below Rp15 billion must involve micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM). This policy aims to empower UMKM participants while simultaneously strengthening national economic independence.

"Tenders in BUMN companies valued under Rp15 billion must be awarded to UMKM; they cannot be awarded to family members, BUMN managers, foundations, or their descendants," Erick stated on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. He noted that since the implementation of this policy nearly five years ago, approximately 50,000 UMKM have joined the BUMN tender ecosystem for projects under Rp15 billion, with the majority operating in the food sector.

"We have gathered 50,000 UMKM, of which about 90 percent are in the food industry," he remarked. The tender process is facilitated through the Digital Market Program for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (PaDi UMKM), which promotes collaboration between BUMN and UMKM.

Erick assured that this program will continue under President Prabowo Subianto's administration. He underscored the importance of concrete actions to support the growth of UMKM as a vital pillar of the national economy. Through this strategy, the government is committed to ensuring that UMKM can grow sustainably and serve as a crucial component in national economic development.

"Thus, we are committed to taking concrete steps to fulfill President Prabowo Subianto's directive on how we can become an independent nation, while also ensuring that our UMKM have a solid foundation in terms of certification, funding, market access, and other aspects," Erick concluded.
