East Java Election Incoming Votes Reached 100%, Khofifah Win Election With 57% Votes

Thursday, 28 Nov 2024

The electoral performance of the gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial candidates in East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa and Emil Elestianto Dardak, has shown a significant lead over their two rival pairs, as indicated by the quick count results from the Charta Politika survey agency.

According to data released by Charta Politika at 20:50 WIB on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, with 100 percent of polling station data reported from across East Java, Khofifah and Emil secured 57.23 percent of the votes. The pair of Tri Rismaharini and Zahrul Azhar Asumta, also known as Gus Hans, ranked second with 34.61 percent, while Luluk Nur Hamidah and Lukmanul Khakim garnered only 8.16 percent.

Dadang Nurjaman, a researcher from Charta Politika, expressed in Jakarta on Wednesday that the victory of Khofifah and Emil is virtually assured, given their status as incumbents and their previous collaboration in the 2018 East Java regional elections.

This pair has outperformed Risma, who has a ministerial background, and Luluk, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives. "Certainly, the candidates best prepared for the East Java regional elections are Khofifah and Emil, as they have already received six endorsements from various political parties during the 2024 presidential election," he stated.

It is believed that the pairs Risma-Zahrul and Luluk-Lukman do not have as extensive preparation compared to the Khofifah-Emil duo. "With the current figure of 58 percent, it is quite distant and somewhat challenging," stated Dadang.

"What we observe from the quick count results is a reflection of the hard work of all of you, which we should be grateful for together. I hope there will be no euphoria until the final C1, final PPK, final KPU at the district/city level, and final KPU at the provincial level," Khofifah remarked during her speech at the Khofifah-Emil Campaign Team Headquarters in Surabaya on Wednesday afternoon.

Khofifah expressed her hope that the quick count results would be closely monitored during the actual counting process by teams and volunteers on the ground. "We anticipate that the final process will proceed smoothly, enabling East Java to continue progressing and achieve its best performance in realizing the New Gateway of the Archipelago," she added.
