The candidates for the governor and deputy governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung and Rano Karno, have achieved a decisive lead according to the quick count results from five survey institutions during the 2024 regional elections.
The five survey organizations involved are Poltracking Indonesia, Litbang Kompas, Charta Politica, Lembaga Survei Indonesia, and Indikator Indonesia.
However, the certainty regarding whether the DKI Jakarta elections will conclude in a single round remains uncertain. This is due to the varying advantages indicated by the quick count, necessitating a wait for the official tally from the Regional General Election Commission (KPUD).
It is important to note that DKI Jakarta is the only province permitted to conduct regional elections in up to two rounds, as stipulated in Law No. 29/2007 concerning the Governance of DKI Jakarta as the Capital of Indonesia.
According to Article 11, paragraph (1) of this regulation, the pair of candidates for governor and deputy governor who receive more than 50% of the votes will be declared the winners.
This implies that the three pairs of candidates in the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election—Pramono Anung-Rano Karno, Ridwan Kamil-Suswono, and Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana—must secure over 50% of the votes to win this political contest.
If no candidate pair achieves more than 50% of the votes, a second round of voting will be held, featuring the two candidates with the highest vote counts from the first round.
In the event that no pairs of candidates for governor and deputy governor receive the specified votes, a second round of elections will be held for the governor and deputy governor, involving the pairs of candidates who received the highest and second-highest votes in the first round, as stated in Article 11, paragraph (2) of the regulation, cited on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
According to the quick count by Litbang Kompas, the Pramono-Rano pair secured 49.49% of the total votes counted at 100%, while Ridwan Kamil-Suswono received 40.02%, and Dharma-Kun garnered 10.49%.
The Charta Politica survey agency also favored Pramono-Rano, reporting a vote share of 50.15% based on a complete sample, while RK-Suswono received 39.25% and Dharma-Kun achieved 10.6%.
The Indonesian Survey Institute recorded Pramono-Rano's votes at 50.1% with a total count reaching 100%, while RK-Suswono obtained 39.29% and Dharma-Kun reached 10.61%.
Indikator Indonesia reported RK-Suswono leading with 49.87% based on a complete sample. RK-Suswono received 39.53%, and Dharma-Kun achieved 10.61%.
Finally, Poltracking Indonesia noted that Pramono-Rano led with 50.48% of the votes counted as of 5:18 PM WIB, with 97.2% of the votes in. Ridwan Kamil-Suwono received 39.14%, and Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardhana achieved 10.26%. (srirahayu@insightinnews.com)
