KPU: Pilkada “Quick Count” Results To Be Released At 15.00 WIB At The Earliest

The General Election Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KPU RI) has emphasized that the results of quick counts conducted by survey institutions may be released no earlier than 3:00 PM WIB, which is two hours after the conclusion of the voting process.

This regulation is outlined in the General Election Commission Regulation (PKPU) Number 9 of 2022 concerning Public Participation in the Elections for Governors and Deputy Governors, Regents and Deputy Regents, and/or Mayors and Deputy Mayors.

Article 19, Paragraph 3 of the PKPU states, "The announcement of the quick count results as referred to in Paragraph 1 may only be made no earlier than two hours after the voting has concluded in the western part of Indonesia."

Paragraph 1 elaborates on the role of survey institutions or opinion polls and quick counts in announcing their election-related survey results. Paragraph 2 clarifies that the announcement of survey results is prohibited during the quiet period.

This article also stipulates that announcements derived from survey results must include the quick count results up to the final tally.

"In announcing and/or disseminating the results of surveys or opinion polls and quick counts regarding elections as referred to in Paragraph 1, survey institutions or opinion polls must declare that the results obtained are not official results from the KPU, provincial KPU, or district/city KPU," as stated in Paragraph 5 of PKPU 9/2022.
