Komdigi Sets Up 3 New Directorates To Manage Digital Affairs

By reza@insightinnews.com The Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, announced that there are three Directorates General within her institution that focus on the digital realm. She indicated that each Directorate General will address issues ranging from cybercrime to government technology. This statement was made by Meutya during a discussion on the eradication of online gambling organized by the Golkar Party faction of the Indonesian House of Representatives. Notable attendees included the Chairman of the Golkar Party faction, Muhamad Sarmuji, and the Deputy Chairman of Commission I, Dave Laksono. "One of the initiatives that we hope will lead to significant changes, although we have not yet made substantial progress, is the restructuring," Meutya stated during the discussion on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. She mentioned that the Organizational Structure and Work Procedures (SOTK) of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs have been finalized this week. She elaborated on the division of the three Directorates General responsible for the digital space. "Fortunately, the SOTK and structure have been completed this week, and the Presidential Regulation has been issued. This will result in a division within one Directorate General that previously oversaw all activities in the digital domain, which we are now splitting into three for better focus," Meutya explained. "Oversight will be independent, with a dedicated focus on cybercrime, a separate Directorate General for the digital ecosystem, and another for digital government technology," she added. Through Presidential Regulation Number 174 concerning the Ministry of Communication and Digital, the Directorate of Communication and Digital has undergone a complete transformation in both its naming and its areas of focus. This regulation was signed by Prabowo on November 5, 2024. Below is the latest organizational structure of the Ministry of Communication and Digital: - General Secretariat - Directorate General of Digital Infrastructure - Directorate General of Digital Government Technology - Directorate General of Digital Ecosystem - Directorate General of Digital Space Oversight - Directorate General of Public Communication and Media - Inspectorate General - Agency for the Development of Human Resources in Communication and Digital - Expert Staff in Legal Affairs - Expert Staff in Communication and Mass Media; and - Expert Staff in Technology.
