By putri@insightinnews.com Tencent is further solidifying its presence in Southeast Asia with a commitment of USD 500 million, approximately IDR 7.8 trillion, for Indonesia by 2030. This initiative aims to transform the country's digital infrastructure. The announcement was made during the Indonesia-China Business Forum. This investment includes plans for the construction of a third data center in Indonesia. Tencent is also collaborating with GoTo Group and Alibaba to accelerate the development of cloud and AI capabilities in the region. Tencent's focus extends beyond hardware; it also brings its expertise in advanced cloud solutions to support local businesses. Meanwhile, Alibaba plays a crucial role in training a new generation of technology talent in Indonesia. This strategic move is a calculated effort by Tencent to strengthen its foothold in one of the fastest-growing markets in Southeast Asia. Mobile gaming remains a core asset for Tencent, with titles such as Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile dominating global charts. However, the company's ambitions extend beyond gaming. Tencent is leveraging its vast WeChat user base, which has reached 1.3 billion, to expand its presence in payment services, cloud offerings, and enterprise software. The integration of WeChat into daily services—from payments to deliveries—continues to unlock untapped value, positioning Tencent as a leader in the monetization of the digital ecosystem.
