Equinix To Build Data Center In Jakarta Next Year

By putri@insightinnews.com Equinix Indonesia, a digital infrastructure company, has announced plans to construct a data center in Kuningan Barat, Central Jakarta, in 2025. Deon Montasser, the Sales Director of Equinix, indicated that the establishment of this data center is aimed at facilitating the transition of digital infrastructure in Indonesia. "Our plan is to launch it to Universoft in 2025. It will be located in the heart of Jakarta, next to Cyber One," stated Deon. Additionally, he disclosed the investment value required for the construction of the data center, which is projected to be situated in Kuningan Barat, Central Jakarta. Deon mentioned that the capital needed for this project amounts to USD 74 million. "For Indonesia, the announced investment is USD 74 million," he remarked. He emphasized that the data center will cater to all industry sectors, including Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as well as large corporations that require data center facilities. "All sectors will be included. This ranges from SMEs to large enterprises. This highlights the advantages of what we refer to as global digital infrastructure," he explained. During the discussion, Deon claimed that Equinix has successfully established 268 data centers worldwide. However, in Indonesia, there will be a data center designed to facilitate access for companies in conducting their business operations. "Thus, foreign clients wishing to operate in Indonesia will find it easier to enter the market, and vice versa," Deon concluded. Consequently, he expresses hope that the establishment of a data center in Indonesia by Equinix will facilitate entrepreneurs across various sectors in conducting their business operations. According to Deon, this is particularly relevant for Indonesian business actors who aspire to expand their enterprises on an international scale. "Customers in Indonesia, who previously operated solely within the country, now wish to establish branches abroad; they can utilize co-location services at Equinix. Furthermore, there is a self-service system in place that allows them to open branches anywhere internationally," he stated. Equinix Indonesia has partnered with PT Astra Digital Internasional to develop digital infrastructure in Indonesia. According to the official website of PT Astra Digital Internasional, this collaboration aims to meet the needs of both domestic and multinational companies in accelerating digital transformation. This partnership also aligns with the Indonesian government's goal of achieving digitalization by 2024, targeting 30 million Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Additionally, the collaboration between Equinix and Astra is intended to support Indonesia's national digital transformation program, creating a framework for economic development and addressing the need for digital infrastructure.
