By putri@insightinnews.com National car sales exhibited a positive trend in October 2024, with a total of 77,191 units sold through wholesale channels. However, the overall sales for the first ten months of this year remain 15 percent lower compared to the same period in 2023, totaling 710,406 units out of 836,128 units. PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) reported sales of 43,596 units in October, reflecting an 8.7 percent month-on-month increase. This achievement reinforces Astra's dominance in the Indonesian car market, with a market share of 56 percent. Boy Kelana Soebroto, Head of Corporate Communications at Astra, welcomed this positive outcome and expressed hope that the upward trend would continue until the end of the year. "We hope that Astra can continue to meet the mobility needs of the public and support the national automotive industry," he stated on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Astra's dominance in the Indonesian car market is evident, even as national car sales overall have declined. In 2024, monthly car sales did not exceed 77,000 units, with the most significant drop occurring in April (48,762 units). In contrast, sales in 2023 consistently surpassed 79,000 units per month, except for April, which also experienced a sharp decline. Specifically, Astra's performance in October 2024, which increased by 4,525 units or 6.22 percent compared to the previous month, indicates that the market is facing challenges. We anticipate that Astra will continue to play a significant role in addressing the mobility needs of the Indonesian population and in supporting the national automotive industry, he stated. Furthermore, in October 2024, Toyota and Lexus recorded sales of 27,211 units, while Daihatsu saw an increase from 12,676 units to 14,096 units. Overall, Astra's sales indicate that the Low-Cost Green Car (LCGC) segment contributed 25.3 percent, with a total of 11,024 units sold.
